STREET PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP - Naples

September 12 – 13, 2026
With Leica Ambassador Robin Schimko
Location: Naples, Italy

RAW, PASSIONATE, AND UNFILTERED - DISCOVER STREET PHOTOGRAPHY IN NAPLES

Naples is raw, expressive, and unapologetically alive. Laundry hangs above narrow streets, scooters cut through dense crowds, conversations spill out of doorways, and religion, family, and daily survival unfold side by side in public space.

This two-day workshop is about embracing that intensity and learning how to work within it. From the historic center and the Spanish Quarter to markets and waterfront areas, we will move through environments that are layered, emotional, and constantly shifting.

Through guided walks, focused shooting exercises, and in-depth image reviews, you will learn how to navigate visual chaos, anticipate gestures, and create street photographs that feel honest, human, and grounded.

WHY NAPLES?

Naples is one of Europe’s most visually charged cities. Life happens outdoors. People interact loudly and openly. Sacred and profane exist next to each other without separation. For street photographers, this creates a rare density of meaningful moments.

The city’s tight streets and dramatic light offer natural framing, strong contrast, and layered compositions at every corner. At the same time, Naples demands presence and awareness. It challenges you to slow down, observe carefully, and respond with sensitivity.

Photographing Naples is not about control. It is about adapting, reading energy, and working with instinct.

WHAT TO EXPECT

This workshop is not about chasing dramatic scenes. It is about intention, discipline, and strengthening your ability to see clearly in complex environments.

Each day includes guided shooting sessions, group discussions, one-on-one feedback, and targeted assignments that build both your technical skills and your visual storytelling. We focus on quality rather than quantity, and on understanding how light, gesture, and environment interact.

You will learn how to move confidently through busy streets, how to approach situations respectfully, and how to remain calm in fast-paced settings.

HIGHLIGHTS

Over the two days, we will explore different areas of Naples, from dense historic neighborhoods to open waterfront spaces. You will work in varying light conditions, from morning shadows to afternoon contrast and evening street life.

We will focus on composition, layering, timing, and human gesture, as well as practical aspects such as camera settings, lens choice, and staying agile in tight spaces. Discussions on ethics, cultural sensitivity, and working up close will be integrated into the daily experience.

Image reviews and editing sessions are central to the workshop, with continuous personal feedback designed to accelerate your growth and clarify your visual direction.

YOU’LL LEAVE WITH

You will leave with sharper instincts and more confident timing in challenging street environments. You will develop a clearer visual language shaped by light, space, and human interaction.

Most importantly, you will gain practical tools for working in intense, emotionally rich urban settings, supported by focused one-on-one feedback and constructive group critique.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

This workshop is for anyone passionate about street photography — from ambitious beginners to experienced shooters looking to go deeper. You don’t need to be a Leica user, but you should be comfortable with your gear and ready to shoot confidently in public spaces.
